As you now know…Pinterest has the attention of millions of businesses.
You being one of them….
This may be because, according to a recent referral traffic report published by Shareaholic,
In 2011… Pinterest drove more traffic than LinkedIn, Google Plus, Reddit, and Youtube…combined.

This young online marketing platform is in its infancy …. I know the power behind this platform because I receive over 15,000 pageviews blogging each month…  Imagine the power of Pinterest for your business….

1) What Type of Content matters… Now displayed on the screen are analytics from a single piece of content pinned by Colby Almond, an online marketer, on March 6, 2012. If you look closely… you will find that in just six days…Colby received 113,908 pageviews [107K unique] with an audience that spent, on average, almost three minutes on his website!!! Incredible isn’t it?!!!

The Best part about Pinterest content is that once content hits its peak the traffic doesn’t stop there… with the tremendous increase in unique visitors and the ability Pinterest users have to “re-pin” and share pins… content will continue to generate daily traffic for about 4 weeks and more…

Now… what type of content has the ability to go viral on Pinterest? Well… frist… it’s importatnt to remember the audience you are targeting your content to…as mentioned in our previous video Offerboard Profile Page… Colby says understanding the Pinterest community is a critical component in knowing what type of content to pin…He said, “When I started researching how to better understand the Pinterest community and its users I was met with some criticism. Being told “I’m revoking your man-card” or “you’re wasting your time” were the most frequent.

…However, as I soon began seeing results my peers began to ask me if I was casting some type of voodoo magic over the Pinterest users. I have played D&D before and I do have a set of dice, however, I am no magic user when it comes to Pinterest. It’s about knowing what the community wants.”

Additionally… while throwing a picture of cute animals or Ryan Renolds with his shirt off will most likely get you thousands of repins… you will not receive many pageviews to your website as a result… here’s why….
Pinterest users are looking for something creative for their vision boards… something they can re-pin and share with others.

Oh… and one more thing—By now you may have noticed that Pinterest contains thousands of infographics… (pause 3 seconds) … this is one of those things where … just because everyone is doing it doesn’t mean you should! …In order to have your content go viral on Pinterest… you need two things…. Followers… or … for your picture to be seen on the popular category pages….at a specific time of the day…. More on this later….

But first….
Let’s look at some examples of effective content within the fitness industry and travel industry.

To find the most popular pins for any market, simply type your subject within the search box.

Also… see if you can identify a few common themes with the pictures we look at together!

Keyword: exercise…
1-Many of the pins illustrate the result of
Having a specific product or service! #fitness (eat right, exercise, sleep enough)
2-Also… several of the most popular pins illustrate a process… (fitness)
3-Third… you will find the most successful pins are what are Colby Almond calls “instructographics”

Because Fitness is an act of taking a current physical condition and using a process to mold and shape a body into more refined physical condition… these three types of pins will be most effective. If your business has a similar service as the fitness industry… stimulating some sort of change with some sort of process, then consider ways you too can 1) use pictures that illustrate the end in mind, 2) use pictures that illustrate a process, and 3) use pictures that are instructographics…. What are instructographics? …they are a vertical image of ideas or steps that guide a viewer to a specific result! (Lego Wall)

When a person clicks on an instructographic they will then be directed to the website where the process is laid out in great detail. For example…my blog has the details of the process of how to create a healthy granola bar… each of these images can also be pinned… however… if you pinned any of these images independent of pinning the instructographic you’ve created… based on what you now know…which pictures do you think would be most effective to pin?

1) I would pin a picture that shows the end in mind
2) you may pin a picture that shows the process… this could stimulate the curiosity of a user to see what the end product will look like—be certain the picture contains enough of the process that your market has a pretty-good-idea of what the final deliverable will be. If you only posted the picture of the honey… ya…
3) or 3rd… if you have the instructographic on the website … you will have that content to pin as you see-fit!

Coming back to the travel industry… what do you notice…. You may have noticed that most of the pictures have the end-in-mind…in my opinion… this will be the majority of the images you would pin within this industry… Additionally.. you mahy have noticed that there are several of the same pictures pinned within this page… this is a good thing… this means that others who have pinned the image to their vision board are also receiving re-pinns from their followers…

Let’s now talk about the 3 steps to consider when creating Effective PinContent: After identifying patterns within your market segment—
1) Create an Idea
2) Design the PinContent
3) Upload Content to Pinterest or Client Site
àif you upload directly to pinterst you can add a url after it is uploaded. I will show you what I mean in just a minute!
4) Size Matters! Since Colby Almond is expert in content creation, let’s read from his article, “What’s the difference between 40 visitors to your site from an instructographic and 40,000? The size of your content. As long as your content is longer than 2,500 pixels it will be unreadable by the Pinterest users. Anything smaller and Pinterest will magnify the image so that it's readable on the site (meaning there's no reason to click through to your page). This forces them to click on your submission, through to your page to view the content. If it’s something that’s worth reading and creative, this is a necessity. If it’s longer than 5,000 pixels, then create a simple 300x300 pixel button outlining your graphic. The reason for this is because the “like” and “repin” buttons are at the top of the submission. If they have to scroll too far town to view the entire piece, chances are they aren’t going to scroll up to click on those buttons. For me the ideal image is 600x3000 pixels.”



Simple enough? Questions?

Now… if you wanted to create something like photoshop, without taking classes in order to understand photo editing… you may consider using Microsoft excel… this is something John Parkes taught me a couple months ago and it has given me a huge confidence boost—as I’m sure it will you… (excel example: baby at the beach)

Now simply follow the upload process…

3) When to Pin Content
Okay… now that you know how to develop your Pincontent… It is important to know when to Pin you content to ensure your content is displayed within your target market---before the world! I have found the best time to pin is between 4AM (MST) or 6AM (EST) and 4PM (MST) or 6 PM (EST). This is all I can tell you for now… more in our next video… and don’t worry…

used or heard others use the word “VIRAL…?”
 Well… friends… what excites me and so many

if pinned at the right time, with the right content,

As … this will be the first item of business upon becoming a member of this community!

Regardless of where you  are at within Pinterest… move your mouse over the “About” text
in the top left-hand corner of Pinterest…
as indicated in the text below …. You first ensure your bookmarks toolbar is Displayed
… With Google Chrome…This is done by clicking on the wrench icon on the vey upright
corner of your browser screen… by the way … if using a different browser…
the video below will act as 50 second guide…

After clicking the wrench icon… scroll over bookmarks… then… show bookmarks bar…
This tool bar should now be displayed… Now… simply drag the Pin It button to the toolbar!
Easy Enough, right? You have now unlocked the ability to Pin any picture, video, and even banner ads from almost any webpage to a Pinboard on Pinterest…

Moving forward… as you probably know...even more important than understanding your
Product or service… is understanding the market segment you are attracting!

It is important to remember that you are entering a community of people
who primarily use this networking platform to simply organize and share pictures they value.

These men and women most likely joined Pinterest because they are
passionate about building a profile of valuable images that will benefit
both themselves and others following. Therefore it is important to post
quality pictures that will more than draw others to a business offer,
but will help them see that you are a person with similar interests.

Now, you may be thinking.. .Lance… this is common knowledge
With ALL social networking sites… I preface the development of your
Pinterest Profile because… if done Effectively… you could benefit
Having followers at this capacity…. Leandro Toledo is one example of
how important it is to consider your own interests and that of others…

Leandro has about 900,000 followers…. Yeah… he’s pretty much a SUPERSTAR!
…People know him….
Seriously though… This is powerful! What do these followers mean?
This means that Anytime he pins a picture… that picture is displayed on the top of his followers
Pinterest Page…. If at ANYTIME Anyone of his 900,000 followers repin any of his pins throughout the day
… that pin would then be displayed at the top of his/her follower Pinterest Page.
From there… if any of their followers repin that pin… yeah… I think you get the idea…
Have you ever heard of a link chain…  an MLM… similar model? Powerful! More related to
The Strategy of pinning in our next video! You’ll love it!

Note the description for Leandro’s profile page… He is passionate about creativity … especially humor…
He says he is here because he loves sharing the things he finds interesting…
Leandro is a model example of the average contributor to Pinterest…

And his profile has been an excellent example of what an
effective Profile Page looks like… let’s talk about the details of what makes up an
effective profile page!

When looking at this profile…What is are the first things that captivate?
(4 second pause)
The first may be the picture… then… the description….(aka the story)
…after your eyes scan the person’s story…you may notice the facebook and other icons..
What will inevitablely catch  your eye is the content below…
Let’s look a little deeper into these three… the picture…story… icons… then we’ll look into the content …

When creating a picture for a business… remember three things…
First… the face, image, or avatar becomes the only image the viewer has to connect
you with your content

Second… the image should reflect the content being pinned

And third…as people connect with your pinboards and images they will see your profile
picture often.... therefore create a profile picture that people can see clearly... if an image of
a person...be certain the picture makes a good use of the space provided. Because this is a picture-oriented social community... profile pictures matter!
Let’s look at a couple of other examples to reference…

When creating your description, consider these three things:

1) This is your opportunity to tell your story in 30 words or less...
2) Parallel your description content with your pinboard content
3) Make use of hastags if you are going to pin content that you want to
be searchable based on the hashtage. If you are unfamilar with hashtags...
you are in for a treat... similar to twitter... when marketing content....
a number sign before a word will gift-wrap that particular word as a searchable
keyword within Pinterest. Therefore, you may consider including a hashtag in front
of a keyword or keywords that will be included in some of all of your pins... More with
the power of hastags in our upcoming video.

Let’s look at a couple examples…

The icons on the profile page are hyperlinked, meaning... if people click on an icon they will be taken to a website. Let’s walk through howto create these icons..

If we goto settings and scroll down… there is an area to input your location, website… and … if you want to quickly sign in to Pinterest via facebook or twitter… then … you will need to turn on this accessibilityon either Facebook … as seen directly below the profile picture… or …twitter… found just below that….
If you are also using Facebook for online marketing…you may consider publishing your Pinterest activity to your facebook timeline. This means that each pin… comment… re-pin… or like done with pinterst… is …. In essence also done on Facebook… because your Facebook fans will the activity with each Pin… Use your judgement on this option… If your facebook page is set-up for business …. This could be a tremendous advantage.

Now… I want to focus on the meat of each of the pinterest profiles we have talked about… the pinboards… only as you have probably noticed… I call them Offerboards… reason being… If you are an entrepreneur like Russell Brunson… he has several offers he is promoting now… and will continue developing offers in the future… therefore…in an effort to build value for the community you are serving…
I create pinboards around specific offers already being promoted or being developed to launch in the market.

How to Earn Pinterest Dividends—Turning Pinterest Traffic into Profit!
Moving forward, know that today’s
#1 Objective is to Instill a vision of How Pinterest
Can generate Leads for your business. … If you don’t
walk away with a vision of how Pinterest can increase
online traffic for your business either I have failed to
deliver this presentation or you have failed to receive it!
Background--My Story
You may wonder how I have become the Pinguru
it was something I never aspired to… Here is my story…
As mentioned, my name is Lance King. What wasn’t said
is that at 21 years old I became an all-natural professional
bodybuilder after winning the over-all in a significant Utah competition.
I am now 28 years old and still enjoy entering competitions,
however, what I enjoy almost more than the thrill of
being on stage competition for the title of the show is
being able to share my knowledge and experience of
bodybuilding and nutrition with others.

Therefore, in October 2011 I created a youtube channel called
Proteincow, where I share my expertise with other aspiring, or
currently competing, bodybuilders. A few months into the
development of my fitness channel, I learned the value of
monetizing my videos. Now, like many who enter into a
youtube partnership, I quickly became motivated to gain
subscribers and increase the amount of monthly views
for my channel—discovering my youtube channel as a
vehicle to provide added-value to the bodybuilder
community  and to improve the size of my wallet.

My quest to increase followers and views was extremely slow-going…
I celebrated every individual subscriber and every 100th view per video…
then I smartened-up and began setting measureable goals
for each week and each month. I decided to set a goal
to increase views by 20% each week until that was not
reasonable anymore… I would then grow 20% of my
 total viewership each month until this became an unreasonable pursuit…
then quarterly… and eventually yearly… 
Now, you may say well….
Lance that is a great plan… what has your strategy been to
acheive your goals? Well…. I would say my most effective
tactics until February 2012 was to build my brand within
Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter… then came the greatest
online marketing resource…and most undiscovered….  
Before I introduce how my relationship with Pinterest came about
… I must say… I was extremely, extremely, extremely reluctant… why?

We’ll… primarily because ALL I had heard about Pinterest was
that it was a social media platform for women to
 gaggle about crafts and cooking… and most importantly
because I didn’t understand the functionality of Pinterest
and how much of a POWERHOUSE it could be driving traffic to a website.

My relationship with Pinterest began at an internet marketing
internship January 2012. This internship consisted of growing a
Google adword campaign, building the firms brand via twitter,
and most significantly designing a Facebook Fanpage for the company.
I sat next to an internet marketing intern who was primarily
in charge of researching and developing a campaign
around Pinterest—something … they must have thought
was feasible because they weren’t paying the interns…
the truth is … this company knew almost nothing about
this marketing platform… except that Pinterest had a
category within Pinterest that they were willing to test. 
The story continues that little-bit by little-bit this intern
began marketing with pinterest and tracking the company’s
website analytics… over the course of a few weeks…
and to the astonishment of the company …
there was a surge of traffic to their webpages due to
Pinterest marketing. The excitement got me REALLY EXCITED! …
My current marketing tactics were effective,
but I couldn’t help but think of the possibilities of how
Pinterest could increase my youtube video traffic…
You may have had similar thoughts during this presentation….
So…I began asking as many questions to the intern
about Pinterest as I could muster!

As you can imagine, I then began marketing my youtube channel….
In a minute or too I will show you my results…
as I began seeing my traffic increase well over 20% increase a week,
I began setting my heights higher…
My excitement skyrocketed about how easy it was to
market with Pinterest... So… I began scaling my health
and fitness brand by starting a cost-effective blog through blogspot…
where I would market my youtube videos and blog
about how to lose bodyfat and stimulate six pack results…
then as I experienced the Amazing results of Pinterest
marketing I started a blog about cooking… 
Since the creation of my blogs I have conducted
extensive research about Pinterest in order to understand
not only its power to drive traffic now, but in the future. 
For your information, some of my research has been
published in the July 2012 issue of DotComSecrets magazine.

Now that you know about how a crush became an

Let’s discuss the functionality of Pinterest….
Get your pen and paper ready… this next part tends to come
out of the screen like a firehose!!! Ready…let’s do it!

Okay… being that you have demonstrated your commitment
up to this point… Here is your official welcome to Pinterest---
Of course… You will have more time to get to know each
other in just a bit… I want to help you understand a
few important points that will help you score big with Pinterest!
First… it’s important to know that according to
Shareaholic.com (huge info--site in the online marketing world)
as of February 2012, Pinterest has generated more
income than Youtube, Reddit, Google Plus, and LinkedIn
combined---Super Impressive, huh? Especially being that
this is such a new online media platform. … More traffic details to come…

Quick question: Remember the highschool bulletinboards?
If yours was like mine at Cottonwood High, it had pictures,
flyers, event information and much more…  
If you are new to Pinterest… know that much like your old
highschool pinboards…. Pinterest has Pinboards… but… much… much more organized.

In fact, you will find boards related to anything a person can
envision they would like in their lives… Examples of Pinboards
people might create… in our next webinar called
“Offerboard Profile Page” I will talk about the most searched
categories on Pinterest and walk you through ways to
build your Pinboards.” I have given you a preview of
two of the most searched on this slide…
Now, you may wonder what types of Pin content can
be pinned onto a Pinboard? And how do I go about doing this?

It’s simple. First… you will install a “Pin It” button on your toolbar
(We will walk through this in our next webinar)… from
here you will be able to pin the images from Youtube…
images of banner ads… images within webpage posts…
and much more! Just click the pin button … click on the
image you want to pin… and then select the Pinboard
you want to display the pin… sounds easy huh?!!
It really is! You now how enough information to begin
your one-on-one relationship with Pinterest. Exciting isn’t it?!!!

The name of the game is building captivating Pinboards
that others will want to like, comment, re-pin, and click
to view the website….
Up to this point, you have heard my story, learned about
the simplicity of how Pinterest functions…
you may have asked yourself, “What’s the story with Pinterest?”

to futher instill a vision of how pinterest can be a value for your business…
 Let’s now explore How to earn Pinterest Dividends—
turning Pinterest Traffic into Cashflow!
If you will recall from my story… I started using Pinterest
for my youtube channel back in February 2012…
We’ll here is a screenshot of my Youtube Traffic on the left…
and on the right… my 1st blog traffic…now…I know what
your thinking….Lance…. these are impressive views!!
Seriously though… consider the incredible spike in views
of my youtube videos on the left… and my blog on the right.
In fact…. I was so… excited about my views…
 I created a challenge with the intern mentioned previously
who was marketing with Pinterest for the company we were
interning… to award a prize through Amazon.com for the
person who reached the highest amount of views to their blog.
Jonny would market to his cooking blog, goodntasty.blogspot.com…
I would market to my fitness blog… (by-the-way… cooking is ranked
higher for searches in Pinterest than fitness). We would isolate the
month after our internship, being April 2012… The results at the end
of our challenge were surprising!!! … Jonny reached about 6000
new pageviews… my blog (proteincow.blogspot.com) barely
surpassed his at 6500 new pageviews thanks to Pinterest!
It was a really fun challenge—I look back at that challenge and
wonder what results would be if Jonny and I put another
monthly incentive on the line…

Now, Take a minute to consider how even 6500 pageviews
a month could benefit your business… It increased my youtube
views by about 125% alone.. growing from less than 12,000
views a month to over 24,000 views a month. I was AMAZED
on how many views I was receiving! So amazed I decided to
advertise my Pinterest marketing abilities to a legend in the
internet marketing world… Russell Brunson with DotComSecrets.com….
I was so… excited to see how much traffic could be
generated with firm like Russell’s… so…I offered to create
and market the company’s various business Offers through
Pinterest as an intern…
You are now looking at a screenshot taken June 26th 2012
three weeks into the Pinterest marketing campaign…
and August 3rd 2012… as you can seen … in just 5 weeks…
this is a 600% increase… I checked Russell’s Pinterest yesterday
and his followers have increased to about 900 followers! INCREDIBLE!!!
Especially because I was able to generate the 6500 views with
only about 100 followers… the details behind how traffic is
 received will be revealed throughout this video series…
especially because each Friday… I will teach an hour webinar…
and you will have a week to test  and try the principles for yourself!!!
Prepare to be Amazed!!!

So… this… is Pinterest Marketing…. At least the tip of the Iceberg!!
